As stewards of service in Troup and Coweta Counties, our chapter is deeply rooted in the legacy of social action and advocacy that has defined Delta Sigma Theta since its founding in 1913. Our commitment to service is reflected in our annual events and the impactful initiatives we undertake in our community.

Annual Events:
  1. Delta Days at the State of Georgia: Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. takes pride in being at the forefront of social and political struggles. Delta Days at the State of Georgia is an annual event where our chapter actively engages with state leaders, advocating for issues crucial to our community. This event serves as a platform to address legislative matters and push for positive change.
  2. Voter Registration Drives: We understand the power of the ballot, and our Voter Registration Drives aim to empower and mobilize our community. By ensuring that every eligible individual is registered to vote, we contribute to the democratic process and uphold the principles of equal representation.
  3. Voter Education: Knowledge is a powerful tool. Our Voter Education initiatives provide valuable information to the community, fostering an informed electorate. We believe in equipping individuals with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions at the polls.

As members of the Troup-Coweta Alumnae Chapter, we stand united in our commitment to social action, striving to create positive change and uphold the principles of justice and equality. Together, we continue the legacy of our 22 Founders who marched in the Suffrage March of 1913, championing the rights of all.

National Social Action Commission: Under the direction of the National Social Action Commission, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority mobilizes its members to advocate for predetermined positions and objectives. Established in 1963, the commission plays a vital role in providing information and direction on current civil rights issues. Delta Sigma Theta has a rich history of contributing to the movement for equal political, educational, and economic rights for all Black people.

Social Action Activities: Our commitment to social action is evident through a variety of activities:
  • Active engagement in legislative, executive, judicial, and regulatory affairs at the national, state, and local levels.
  • Promotion of enlightened citizenship by providing fact-based information to elected officials and voters.
  • Research and advocacy of critical issues affecting our community.
  • Monitoring legislation to protect the rights and privileges of citizenship.
  • Voter registration, education, and mobilization to encourage civic participation.
  • Public education on public policy issues.
  • Encouragement of Deltas to run for elected office, fostering representation that reflects the diversity of our community.
